Advanced: The Wheatstone Bridge Regenerative Receiver

The KI6SN version of the Dan Wissell, N1BYT, Wheatstone Bridge Regenerative Receiver features a host of front-panel controls including a volume control, RF input control, a main regeneration control, and fine tuning regeneration control. The large dial in the middle is for tuning.

This inside view shows the receiver after several modifications. It is really not as complicated as it looks. The WBR can be operated at 12V DC of with a transistor radio-style 9V battery. The WBR is a truly remarkable receiver. Hats off to Dan Wissell, N1BYT, for its design.

N1BYT offered his receiver project for publication in QST magazine. It appeared in the August 2001 edition, but has been posted on the Internet via this link. Note that there were several corrections to the original article. They are published the end of this posted article.
